Trees native to Virginia with herbal healing properties include White oak, Walnut, White ash, Yellow poplar, Dogwood, American Basswood, Eastern White Pine, Hawthorn, Fringe tree, and Eastern red cedar. Learn how to identify each of these trees.  Also learn how the native tribal people used these trees as herbal remedies and how they are being used today. Learn about insects and diseases that are affecting our herbal tree population. You’re welcome to bring in samples of trees for class identification.
